Neil Phillips:   A Vision of Value

Neil is the Founder and Head of School of Visible Men Academy, an all-boys public charter school in Bradenton, Florida. Neil has over 25 years of experience as an educator, entrepreneur, coach, and youth advocate. He is regarded as a national thought leader and renowned speaker on black male achievement, minority education, race in America, character development, and youth empowerment. 

After receiving his B.A. in English and American Literature from Harvard University, Neil went on to play professional basketball in Australia and was a member of the Jamaican National basketball team. Neil is an Aspen Institute Education Entrepreneurship Fellow. He is a member of the inaugural Echoing Green/Open Society Foundation Black Male Achievement Fellowship. Neil is a two-time winner of The Nantucket Project Audience Award for his provocative talk on race in America called “Race to Truth” and, most recently, for his compelling interview with famed television producer Norman Lear. Neil has an extensive and highly esteemed public speaking background that has allowed him to present across the country. His list of presentation audiences and venues include NASA, National Association of Independent Schools, The University of Miami, World 50, and Leadership Florida.

Currently, Neil is the subject of a film project entitled Visible Man, which highlights his efforts to elevate black boys and men in America. He also consults with organizations to help advance their diversity interests.
