Chamber names Caldwell winner of its 2017 Frank G. Berlin, Sr. Small Business Award;

company also wins Top Honor Small Business of the Year Award

VENICE, FL: Members of Caldwell Trust Company attended the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce 2017 Frank G. Berlin, Sr. Small Business Award awards luncheon on Friday, June 2. The company, a finalist, was doubly honored when the Chamber named Caldwell as winner in the professional services category and also as winner of its Top Honor Small Business of the Year Award.

The prestigious honors were announced before an audience of over 400 attending the Chamber’s annual awards luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota. The Frank G. Berlin Award recognizes member businesses and individuals with locally owned and operated business while the Top Honor Small Business of the Year Award chooses its winner across all six categories.

R. G. “Kelly” Caldwell Jr., CEO, president and co-founder of Caldwell Trust Company, accepted the awards on behalf of the 24-year-old company, which provides a full range of fiduciary services to individuals as well as management of retirement plans for employers. “We are truly honored and humbled by this award,” he said. “When we started our company in 1993, we pledged to offer traditional financial services in a highly personal way, and we vowed always to remain independent. We felt that this was the right path to serve our clients and grow the business.”

The founding philosophy proved accurate. As the company approaches its first quarter-century of service, it is nearing the mark of $1 billion in assets under management with $890,000 currently in its portfolios. Its success in generating strong returns for investors at modest costs is due not only to careful, responsible management but also to Caldwell’s development of proprietary software programs that greatly enhance efficiency, according to Kelly Caldwell.

Caldwell Trust Company began with six co-founders in offices above a bank in Venice. Today the business operates from an elegant $4 million headquarters building at 1400 Center Road in Venice and additional offices at 1561 Main Street, Sarasota, with a staff of 29.

Known for its family-oriented culture and strong ethic of corporate citizenship, the business has donated over $1 million to local organizations that focus on youth and social causes. In keeping with the company philosophy of giving back, employees also donate their time to serve on boards and committees of chosen area charities, which now number over three dozen.

Caldwell Trust Company is an independent trust company with offices in Venice and Sarasota, Florida. Established in 1993, the firm currently has nearly $1 billion dollars in assets under management for clients throughout the United States. The company offers a full range of fiduciary services to individuals including services as trustee, custodian, investment adviser, financial manager and personal representative. Additionally, Caldwell manages 401(k) and 403(b) qualified retirement plans for employers.
