Committee Opportunities

The best way to get engaged is to get involved!

All Business Alliance members are encouraged to get involved on a committee. Committees offer opportunities to connect to other members on a smaller scale, help the organization meet some of their goals and help you make the most out of your membership.

These 8 committees meet once a month at LWRBA conference room, committee meeting times are listed on the  website. Should you have additional questions, you can contact the chairs directly.

1) Economic Development: 4th Tuesday of each month at 4 pm

General Responsibilities: 

  • Creating a LWRBA Ambassador program to assist new businesses considering the area
  • Help to build our economic development message
  • Define the economic development resources we would like to offer our members
  • Time Commitment: 2 to 3 hours monthly

2) Events Committee:  the 3rd Monday of each month at 4 pm

The purpose of the Events committee is to create events and promotional opportunities which build awareness of the LWRBA businesses in the community.

General Responsibilities:

  • Scout locations for networking socials
  • Handle event check-in
  • Assist with sponsorship sales
  • Plan annual fundraiser
  • Assist with special project when needed
  • Time Commitment : 5 to 10 hours monthly

 3) Governmental Affairs Committee: 2nd Wednesday of each month at 4 pm

General Responsibilities:

  • Field amendments and issues brought to the attention of the LWRBA
  • Provide member information and support for GAC supported issues
  • Create events and education opportunities on topics that effect our business community
  • Help to build our legislative agenda annually
  • Time Commitment: 2 to 3 hours monthly

4) Membership: 1st Tuesday of each month at 4 pm

The purpose of the Membership committee is to help further the growth and membership base of the LWRBA.

General Responsibilities:

  • Educate businesses in and around Lakewood Ranch of membership benefits
  • Coordinate membership drives and new member events
  • Help to make new members feel welcome to the Alliance
  • Assist with special projects when needed
  • Time Commitment : 2 to 4 hours monthly

 5) Communications & Technology Committee:  2nd Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m.

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist with crafting press releases
  • Assist in creating ads for events
  • Assist with increasing the visibility of the organization
  • Create opportunities for exposure
  • Time Commitment: 2 to 3 hours monthly

 6) Programming Committee:   1st Tuesday of each month at 8:00 am

The purpose of the Education Committee is to provide all programming functions for the Executive Briefing Series, Luncheon and Breakfast of Champions.

 General Responsibilities:

  • Secure speakers and presentation panels for bi-monthly luncheons and Executive Briefing series
  • Arrange logistics educational series
  • Secure biographies and photographs for newsletter and website coverage
  • Assist with special projects when needed
  • Time Commitment : 2 to 3 hours monthly

7) YLA Committee: 2nd Monday of each month at 4pm

The purpose of the YLA Committee is to provide opportunities for young professionals to enhance their leadership, communications and project management skills by providing events and programs throughout the year.

General Responsibilities:

  • Scouting locations for socials
  • Assist with event set-up and tear-down
  • Negotiate rental and catering agreements
  • Fundraising events

8) Community Engagement:  1st Wednesday of each month at 4pm

Brand new for 2018, the Community Engagement Committee will work with our local partners, such as SMR, Lakewood Ranch Community Activities, Manatee/Sarasota Schools, our member non-profits and other regional partners to bring the needs of our community to our members.

The Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance is a strong community-driven membership organization that focuses on business growth, partnership, opportunities and awareness. All of its valued members are committed to best businesses practices, networking opportunities, training, seminars, education, business connections, economic development and community expansion. Member businesses are located in, or doing business in, the Lakewood Ranch area, near Bradenton and Sarasota, Florida. Our proud members are dedicated to promoting a vibrant business community and speaking up for business needs in the community. The Alliance also has a strong working relationship with local Chambers of Commerce and is focused on creating awareness for local non-profit organizations.
