Soar in 4 - Family STEAM Night
The Soar in 4 program is looking for volunteers to assist with their next Family STEAM Night on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 5:30-7:30PM. Over 100 families are expected to participate. (Flyer below)
Volunteer activities will include:
Participating in literacy focused activities at different learning stations (story telling, block building, etc.)
Assisting in the Snack Center (families will have the chance to tie literacy in with cooking – i.e. using letters / ingredients to make a PB&J sandwich!)
Greeting and directing participating families to various learning stations
Providing assistance with walking families between the three facilities
All activities will incorporate literacy prompts and curriculum material students are learning this year.

Volunteer opportunity examples within the interest areas include:
College & Career Readiness - Career Chats speaker, Mentoring in Student Success Centers, Reviewing scholarship applications, Hosting a student workshop in a Student Success Center (i.e. interview skills, financial literacy, etc)
STEM & Innovation - STEMSmart Summit judge, #SRQHacks Hackathon mentor or judge
Teachers/Professional Development - Reading and scoring teacher-submitted grants
Special Events - Serving on event committees, Assisting with event-related planning and logistics
