Committee Opportunities
All members of the Alliance are encouraged to get involved on a committee anytime during the year. Committees offer another avenue to meet new members and to make the most out of your membership. The committees meet once a month at various locations please click here to see a listing up coming meetings.
Membership and Services
The purpose of the Membership and Services committee is to help further the growth and membership base of the LWRBA.
General Responsibilities:
¨ Educate businesses in and around Lakewood Ranch of membership benefits
¨ Coordinate membership drives and new member events
¨ Man check in tables during luncheons and social events
¨ Help to make new members feel welcome to the Alliance
¨ Assist with special project when needed
Programming Committee
The purpose of the luncheon programming committee is to provide all programming functions for the LWRBA.
General Responsibilities:
¨ Secure speakers and presentation panels for bi-monthly luncheons
¨ Write all post-event articles covering the event
¨ Secure bio’s and photos for newsletter and website coverage
¨ Assist with special project when needed
Events Committee
The purpose of the Events committee is to create events and promotional opportunities which build awareness of the LWRBA businesses in the community.
General Responsibilities:
¨ Scout locations for luncheons and socials
¨ Handle all event setup and tear down
¨ Negotiate rental and catering agreements
¨ Write all post-event coverage for newsletter and website
¨ Assist with special project when needed
Fundraising Committee
The purpose of the Fundraising Committee is to develop a fundraising strategy for the next 3-5 years which satisfies the operational and financial needs of the Business Alliance. Execute a fundraising event in accordance to the plan and report to the Board of Directors on results.
General Responsibilities:
¨ Implement a single event which raises a minimum of $20K
¨ Assist in planning and execution of event
¨ Silicate sponsors and donors
¨ Develop a program on which to build for the future
Public Relations Committee
The purpose of the PR Committee is to accurately communicate changes, news and a view point on all issues which affect our Alliance.
General Responsibilities
¨ Coordinate bi-monthly newsletter
¨ Oversee website improvements and updating
¨ Create and / or update and marketing materials
¨ Research opportunities for LWRBA to gain additional exposure
¨ Create and distribute press releases concerning LWRBA news
¨ Assist with special project when needed
Political Affairs Committee
The purpose of the Political Affairs committee is to create a "Voice" for our members.
General Responsibilities:
¨ Representation for our members on pertinent political elections and issues that directly impact the businesses of Lakewood Ranch.
¨ Identify local boards and advisory committees that have an influence on the businesses of Lakewood Ranch and determine which of our members presently serve on those boards allowing us to be more involved.
¨ Helping our members with specific issues that are affecting their businesses today by being involved in the political process through understanding and education
Education Committee
The purpose of the Education Committee is to provide all programming functions for the Executive Briefing Series.
General Responsibilities:
¨ Secure speakers and presentation panels and for monthly Executive Briefing series
¨ Arrange logistics educational series
¨ Secure biographies and photographs for newsletter and website coverage
¨ Assist with special projects when needed
Retail Committee
The purpose of the Retail Committee is to have an understanding of what is happening in the retail world of Lakewood Ranch and work on improving it.
General Responsibilities:
¨ Have retail focus groups and residental focus groups periodically to stay updated on information and convey this information to all members.
¨ Have a member from each retail outlet in Lakewood Ranch on the Committee.
¨ Try to look for ways to improve the retail community in Lakewood Ranch
Committee Structure
¨ Each committee will select a co-chair annually, which will have the first opportunity to replace Chair when Board term has ended
¨ Each committee will designate a secretary to take minutes during the meetings
¨ Committee meetings must be held monthly
¨ Committee decisions must be approved and voted on by the Board before any action can be taken
¨ Committees Chairs need to work closely with other committees in order to accomplish the overall goals of the Alliance.
¨ Committees must have fun while accomplishing their tasks :-)
